batgurl's CMFFA Rec List

Well, severity_softly was tossing around the idea of posting recs from the CMFFAs in her journal, and like a regular thief, I am stealing the idea. Now that the cmfanficawards are over, and the last of the banners have (finally) been distributed, I can post my recommendations without fear of bias or influencing unsuspecting people!
So, here's a list (in no particular order) of fics and authors that, if you didn't read them for the CMFFAs, you should definitely read them now.
Author Rec's

Special mentions:
Haunted Minds (FRT) - Reid-centric crossover with Supernatural. If you're not already reading this, you should be. I've only ever seen 1 episode of SPN, but this fic is so terrific that it's not even an issue. Broken Reid clinging for his sanity is a heartwrenching image.

Special mentions:
Love Me, Love Me, Love Me (Say You Do) (R, Morgan/Reid SLASH) - I was really hoping this one would win for best slash romance. Like the rest of her fics, it knocks the wind out of you with how true and raw and sad and beautiful it is. You feel everything Reid and Morgan feel.
Eligent - An ff.net writer (wait - where are you going? Come back!) . But seriously, she's amazing. I know this should technically only be rec'ing fics specifically nominated in the CMFFAs, but I worked my tail off for the last 3 1/2 months and I'll rec whatever I damn well please ;) I think she's got eight CM fics all together, and I would bet good money that if they'd all been written in 2008, every last one of them would've been nominated. Instead, her two from the past year got the nod: 'The Fairview Diaries' and 'Boxed Set' (which claimed two awards). Known for writing great Reid angst that doesn't go overboard (which, I will admit, some Reid fics do), of special note are her casefics. Like Buffy's, the cases are worth reading, but in a different way - they're actually quite fascinating in and of themselves. And if you enjoy reading the team in all their 'in-character' glory, her fics are for you.
Special Mention:
Hard to pick a favourite, but I'd probably go with 'What's In a Name?'. Interesting case, great Hotch/Reid interaction, and Reid gets to be a bit of a hero, even as he's questioning himself.
Specific Fics to Read:
'Nature of the Game' by

'Spiders' by

'She Says' by

'Incentive' by JMcK (T)- Yes, another ff.net writer: It was my first love, darn it - I'm not letting go without a fight ;) This is a great piece if you're in the mood for some great gen team-interaction/team-in-peril. As much as I (a rabid Reid fan) love fics that centre on a specific character, it's always nice to come upon a piece that puts the whole team on equal footing. Everyone has a little bit of say in this piece, and they're all delightfully in-character. And the 'in-peril' part never goes to the ridiculous level, which is a huge plus in my books. And if you feel like sniffing around a bit, she's got some great JJ/team-fics hidden on her profile.
I could probably go on forever, because there were so many great fics and authors nominated in this competition, but I'll stop there. I would've mentioned

Cookies are the very definition of victory. But really, as long as we stay off Jerry Springer, it's a win in my books.
