LJ Fail!

Arrgh. Will LJ forever curse me at every turn?

Could someone who knows more about LJ than myself offer some advice for my layout plz??

 

So, you may've noticed I've been messing around with my layout today. I made myself a new header, and changed the layout to 'Mixit: Bookworm White'. I added the CSS code:

    background-image: url("http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o145/rogueandkurt/testmggheaderbybatgurl88copy-1.jpg");
 height: 380px;
        margin: 0 auto;
}

#header {
    background-image: none;
}

as per the LJ tutorial, and made my header match 940px wide (as the TUT suggested), but I still can't stop the dang thing from repeating at the top. I tried making it bigger and smaller, but that just made the problem worse (it got even more 'tiled' looking, at the bottom as well).

I've been working on this for hours now, and I'm obviously LJ-challenged, but if anyone has a suggestion for how I can fix it, I'd be forever indebted.

OMG it's Layout Day on LJ! And yours is adorable, btw. :D

I wish I knew how to help you, but I'm so clueless it's not even funny. I use custom layers with mine, but I think you have to have a paid account to do that. I could copy & paste the header coding I use -- taken from a tutorial -- but I'm not sure how much help it would be, if any.

IN OTHER NEWS, YOUR FIC REALLY IS COMING ALONG AND I HOPE TO HAVE IT DONE & POSTED BEFORE I GO TO BED BUT I MAKE NO PROMISES BECAUSE I SUCK AND IT'LL PROBABLY TAKE ONE MORE DAY. If there's one thing in life I succeed at, it's failing. True story. *headdesk*

Aww, thanks! buffyaddict was commenting about getting herself a new layout this morning, and it got me thinking about trying something new.

Yay for fic! *does happy dance* I already told you I'm more than willing to wait for it though, so don't let it prevent you from getting your beauty sleep or anything :) (I'm more than a little ticked that the clocks are going forward tomorrow - like I don't get too little sleep as it is lol)
