First Attempt at Crocheting - Amigurumi Dolls [Glee - Kurt/Blaine]

Okay, so about a year and a half ago, I saw a great idea for knitting these really cute Arthur and Merlin mice, and quickly taught myself how to knit so I could have a set of my own (and make a few for my friends). They turned out pretty adorable, and I've been knitting up a storm ever since.

And then, about a month ago, I decided I wanted to learn crocheting (lol Can you tell unemployment is getting to me?). I found a cute pattern online to use as a starting point, and modified it to fit some characters from Glee this time.

The result: Kurt and Blaine dolls!

Blaine was the first attempt, and it being my first try at crocheting, he came out a little disproportioned. One of his legs had to be refashioned. His jacket also drove me crazy. I didn't have a pattern for the tie, so I had to improvise, and stitched the contrasting colour over top of it.

Kurt, on the other hand, is a bit closer to what the pattern intended (meaning he's a bit bigger, but more in-proportion than Blaine). His outfit is modeled after one of my favourites of his, from 2x06 Never Been Kissed. His hairstyle also started out a bit more like Blaine's, before I realised that Kurt often wore the swept-back Big Hair in S2. So, I restitched it, and it added to his height considerably.

Size-wise, they're each a little less than 14" tall.

Currently, I'm trying to decide if I should make another Kurt one with his Born This Way outfit (complete with that oddly attractive plaid coat, for strategic re-enactment purposes). If I can figure out how to crochet plaid on such a small pattern, we'll see how it goes.
